SOCIAL MEDIA AND TELECOMMUNICATION POLICY
This notice went into effect on January 1, 2025
To maintain clarity regarding our use of electronic modes of communication during your treatment, Polli Psychology, PLLC has prepared the following policy. The use of various types of electronic communications is common in our society, and many individuals believe this is the preferred method of communication with others, whether their relationships are social or professional. Many of these common modes of communication, however, put your privacy at risk and can be inconsistent with the law and with the standards of the mental health profession. Consequently, this policy has been prepared to assure the security and confidentiality of your treatment and to assure that it is consistent with ethics and the law.
If you have any questions about this policy, please feel free to discuss them with Dr. Eliza Polli.
Email and Text Message Communications
Polli Psychology, PLLC uses email communication and text messaging only with your permission and only for administrative purposes, unless we have made another arrangement. That means that email exchanges and text messages with the office should be limited to things like setting and changing appointments, minor billing matters and other administrative issues. Text messaging and email are both more impersonal and unsecure modes of communication.
Please do not email or text about clinical matters because this is not a secure way to contact your provider. If you need to discuss a clinical matter, please send a secure message on the Therapy Notes Portal and Dr. Polli will do her best to respond to your inquiry within two business days or she will plan to discuss the matter during your next scheduled therapy session.
Dr. Polli does not provide crisis support but you may attempt to reach her for additional support outside our session by calling her direct line: 603-691-6594. Dr. Polli makes every effort to respond to emails, texts, and phone calls within 24-48 hours, except on Fridays, weekends and holidays. Email and text messaging should not be used to communicate with Dr. Polli in an emergency.
If you are unable to reach Dr. Polli and feel that you cannot wait for her to return your call, contact your family physician or the nearest emergency room and ask for the psychologist or psychiatrist on call. If Dr. Polli will be unavailable for an extended time, she will provide you with the name of a colleague to contact in my absence if necessary.
If you are in a mental health crisis please call 911, or contact the Upper Valley Local Crisis Line at West Central Behavioral Health at 603-542-5128, or call the Suicide Crisis Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 or text 988 to speak with a counselor, or go to the nearest emergency room.
Social Media
Dr. Polli does not communicate with, or contact, any of her clients through social media platforms like Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and LinkedIn. In addition, if she discovers that she has accidentally established an online relationship with you, she will cancel that relationship. This is because these types of casual social contacts can create significant privacy risks for you.
Dr. Polli participates on various social networks, but not in a professional capacity. If you have an online presence, there is a possibility that you may encounter Dr. Polli by accident. If that occurs, please discuss it with her during your time together. Polli Psychology, PLLC believes that any communications with clients online have a high potential to compromise the professional relationship and thus, Dr. Polli doesn’t engage in them. Please do not try to contact Dr. Polli in this way or interact with her social media content. She will not respond and will terminate any online contact no matter how accidental.
